Man, I love things that feel contemporary. Don’t get me wrong, I love classicism from all angles (subject, technique, style). There just something personally and culturally validating about seeing work done about life now.

This guy’s output is kinda crazy. Either “he” is “they” or the dude never sleeps. Awesome stuff.

I suppose it was inevitable that some painter would take on the subject of moshpits. All I can say is, thank god it was Dan Witz. I especially like is his title for the series, “Moshpits (Human or Otherwise)”.

I sort of get the appeal of portraits of people gooped with paint. It’s the playing in mud thing. But my little brain always goes straight to wondering about set up and clean up. Did Mr. Sherry have to go to work the next day with a residual stain under his eyes? That must have made for a ton of watercooler jokes about, oh, say, ripping off the kid selling Koolaid on the corner.

Heike Weber likes drawing on things. Big things. Room-sized things.
So. . . do people get to walk in here? Do they have a Roomba to clean up after them?
