While we’re on the topic of paper models, here’s a page with a crapload of free paper ship patterns.

By the way, I just found out that Louise Lecavalier received the Order of Canada on April 7 this year. “Louise Lecavalier, O.C. For her legendary contribution to the development of contemporary dance as an internationally renowned dancer.”
Aahh, there is justice in the world.
For the second time this week (and it’s only Tuesday) I’ve received a telemarketing call from Bell Systems’ Solo Mobile trying to sell me their “Extreme Wireless Solution”. The first time they called, I explained that I was on the National Do Not Call List and asked them never to call again. So when they phoned again this morning, I was not amused. I grilled the caller about his company, his name, and where he was calling from and I recorded the VOIP number his system was using. The number is 780-424-5841, and if you google it, you’ll see others have been hit by telemarketers from this number in the middle of the night.
Anyway, with all my data ammo, I thought I’d try making a complaint to the Do Not Call List people this morning. And wow, was that ever a pleasant experience. Without any fuss or waiting, a live person took the details of my complaint and made it plain that my info might be used by law enforcement to bring criminal charges against Bell Systems. I was totally tickled.
Thank you NDCL! I now get a little surge of nationalistic pride when I think of you. Keep up the good work!
And hey, Bell Systems? Rotate!

My humorous young adult sci-fi novel, Kana and the Red Pilot has been accepted by Five Rivers Publishing! All the legal jazz still has to be done, but I received the wonderful news this afternoon.
I’m so happy, you have no idea.
Here’s what the publisher said on the SF Canada list today: “And last and best of all, Five Rivers has just reached a verbal agreement for a three book SF YA series by one of our very own Canadian authors, that has to be one of the most hilarious, rocketing and touching reads I’ve had in a very, very long time. More details to follow in the next few days.”

I found a cool store and thought I’d share. The top pic is of a vase. The second thang, a wall-mounted hook. The third, obviously, a schpanky folding bike.
I know I made a big deal out of being annoyed by web site ads (see here), but now I feel like a total douche for complaining in the face of an obvious alternative. Yeah, yeah, I was aware there was software for Firefox out there to block ads. I just didn’t have the imaginative through-put that day to think such plugins existed for IE. Duh.
Well, yesterday I found an awesome one and forked out my thirty dollars for it (after using like, ten seconds of my free trial). And I’m happy to say, wow. “Super Ad Blocker” rocks. My web experience has been transformed. Thank you to Nick Skrepetos and his team. Fabulously well done.
