The era of airbrushing has long ago given way to photo-manipulation. Now, a couple of decades into the development of its toolbox and technique, there is no denying photo-modding is to air-brushing what CGI animation is to flipbooks.

Y’ever get a little shiver when you know you’re in the presence of greatness? Say, when you happen to get close to a visiting dignitary or snag a backstage pass to meet a favorite musician? That’s how I feel going to this lady’s website. Me shivers are timberin’.

I really am at a loss to know what to make of this gentleman’s work. I guess they’re HDR photo-manipulations of biker party albums. Oh, well. He’s obviously having fun.
Some of the earliest color movie film in the world. Sad to think these ladies are all gone now.

I’ve never been big on point-and-shoot photographers. The guys who got the photo, not through of any great creative effort of their own, but entirely because they were the ones who showed up. Still, you can’t diss a good eye or excellent technique, both of which qualifies Lâm Duc Hiên for some kind of prize for being at the top of that particular heap.
Incidentally, this is my 700th post. What the hell? Where has the time gone?

Maybe I’ve been watching too much True Blood, but that’s my first association now when I see skin and blood in the same image.

This is sort of like inside out trompe-l’Å“il, where we get a bit of mental whiplash over what’s 2D and what’s 3D – and then, ah, yes, the whole thing is a 2D photograph.
